When to Book?

Now is never too early! I have limited space for my births and newborns each month, so the sooner you book, the more likely I will have availability.

When will I receive my photos?

For non birth photos, my goal is to deliver your gallery 2-3 weeks after your session. For birth photos, my goal is to deliver your gallery within 4-5 weeks after your birth.

The cost is a bit much for me. How can I still do this and make it work?

I get it! believe me. Photos, especially birth where (I am on call 24/7, having to travel, dealing with varying lighting, am present for hours at a time, and sorting through hundreds of precious images to deliver a final product) can be a significant cost. To help with this, I have payment plans available for all my sessions. As long as you pay 20% of your session at the time of booking, you are free to pay the rest by 38 weeks for births or the day of session for the other sessions. This will give plenty of time to spread out your payments. * Please note that the 20% paid deposit to book your session is non refundable.

As mentioned in my investment page, I do also provide a 20% discount if you book multiple sessions at the same booking time. So if you do maternity and birth it would be 20% off the two totaled, or any other combination. There is no limit to how many you combine to get that discount.

And last, if the above options are still a struggle for you, please reach out. I value everyone having access to photos. And I would love to help you come up with a workable solution for your budget. You will never regret documenting those can't get back moments of early motherhood and your baby growing up. I desire to make that happen for you!

When is best time for maternity and newborn photos?

For maternity photos, I love to capture mamas in their early 3rd trimester. Between 28 and 34 weeks is great. That often allows for a beautifully round belly without all the end of pregnancy swelling and discomfort. If we miss that window however, and need to do it later, that is ok!!

For newborn photos, I love to do them within the first two weeks of life. Baby is still so squishy and new at this time. But if its later, again no worries. Baby is still adorbale anytime. It will just be more of an infant session vs brand new newborn.

For fresh 48 photos, I do them within the 2 days of your baby's birth at the location of their birth.

What do you photograph for maternity, fresh 48's or in home newborn sessions?

For maternity photos, I love to photograph just mamas with their lovely beautiful bumps. And then I photograph a combination of daddy with mom, kiddos and even their fur kiddos. This is about a 1 hr session in your home or a beautiful outdoor location. I do some candid photos, and some directed posing for this session. You will receive 10 edited images of your choice. And there will be opportunity to purchase additional images or keepsakes if you desire.

For fresh 48, I come to the place of your birth within the first day or two. These are heavy baby focused lifestyle natural images. I do some directed posing, but mostly, I just photograph you and daddy holding and cuddling baby. I capture little tiny details of all the fresh newborn goodness. These photos are a birthy feel, with all the birth place details, without the actual labor and delivery. This is a great option if you are not comfortable with birth photos, but still desire those very first moments of baby's life. These sessions are also perfect for documenting siblings meeting baby for the first time. I include 10 images of your choice. and again you will have an opportunity to purchase additional images and keepsakes.

For my newborn sessions, these are lifestyle in home sessions done in the first 2 weeks of life. All family members are welcome. These photos are minimal studio style posing, and more of capturing the raw moments of baby's first days in your home. I photograph all the cuddles, breastfeeding, photos of a nursery, etc that you want to remember. I understand the stress of having a new baby, and post partum. Please don't feel obligation to super clean for the photo session. I usually tell people, to pick a room that you want to do photos in. Clear a few spots, and we'll make it happen. And if it's nice enough out, we can even do some photos outside if that's your vibe. Because we're not doing studio style posing, I don't need baby to be super sleepy for these newborn sessions. You will primarily be the one interacting with and holding baby. So if he/she is fussy, that's ok. It's part of those first days.

do you travel ouside of Clovis, NM for births?

I do! My preference for out of town birth travel is Lubbock, Tx and surrounding region. However, if my calendar and time allows, I will definitely consider other locations within a 2 hour radius of Clovis, NM, Portales, NM, and Farwell, Tx areas.

What type of births do you cover?

All of them! 😊 I've had experience with hospital births; natural deliveries, epidurals, and csections. I've photographed home births, and birth centers, water births, and even precipitous roadside deliveries. I come where you are, and document your birth story as it unfolds. If you desire at home labor photos first before heading to the hospital, I'm totally ok with that as well, and then following you to your place of birth.

for births, do you come day or night, and on holidays?

Absolutely! Babies don't come at convenient times. When I go on call for you, it's from 38 weeks till delivery, unless we make special arrangements for earlier due to a possible imminent birth. I keep my phone on loud once I'm on call for my mamas. I like to have you update me with any body changes as we enter into my time of on call for you. And we stay in close contact. Once it's go time, you or your support partner will give me a text/call to let me know. And day or night, any holiday and everything in between, I am yours until the baby is born, and a few hours after to document the golden hour and all the sweet firsts in those initial hours after birth.

Do you provide non photo related birth support?

That's totally up to you in the moment. I am not an official doula. So I can not provide trained medical support. ( I do hope to change that one day in the future.) However, I do have a lot of experience via my own natural deliveries and many many years in the birth world. I am happy to cheer you on when you're feeling discouraged. I can explain basic labor and delivery terms and experiences. I can help advocate with you and your birthing partner to help you achieve your birth goals. I am happy to make runs for water, and heating packs, light snacks or whatever else you need. I am glad to relieve your birthing partner for a break, while I sit by your side to help get you through contractions. And after birth, I am skilled in assisting with breastfeeding and first latch, and all the unique newborn things that you may need to learn. I view my clients as more than photo subjects. I view each mama as a friend. And my goal is to empower women to achieve their births and become the wonderful mamas they're created to be. I am happy to be available by text or call for any pre or post birth questions as you navigate this new path of motherhood. And if all you need is a photographer, I'm ok with that too. I desire to be as invisible or present as you wish in your birth. It's your day, your way, your story!

what happens if you are present for an emergency or an unplanned c-section?

I've been present for both birth emergencies and unplanned c-sections. For birth emergencies, I slip far into the shadows so emergency teams can do their job. Depending on the situation, I may continue photographing quietly in a discreet way. Those photos will then be kept in your folder in a separate section for post birth emotional processing when and if you're ready to need them. Often the photos in emergencies help moms piece together the parts that were hazy for her, and help with emotional healing and comprehension of all that happened.

As far as unplanned c-sections, I will ask the attending surgeon and/or head anesthesiologist permission to document the c-section. It really depends on the team and their willingness to accommodate. I am very comfortable in an OR for births and understand sterile procedures and processes and will stay out of the way, and only be where I am allowed and authorized. If for whatever reason, I am not allowed in, I will document before, and after in recovery and beyond. And I will put my camera on auto for birth partner to bring in with you both. Often you as the patient, advocating that you desire your birth photographer to be present goes a long way with my permissions being allowed.

If NICU happens for whatever reason, I will photograph with a parent present if I am allowed by the staff.

what do you document for a scheduled induction or scheduled c-section?

For an induction, if it works out for timing and distance, I will come for some of the first moments of the induction to document the initial process. I will be in close contact as your labor progresses. Once you are in an active labor pattern, I will return as a normal birth and continue photographing active labor and delivery and the couple hours after.

For c-sections, I will come when you're first in your room for all the pre-op part of the story. Then if I am allowed back with you, I will photograph the birth. I will follow you for recovery and first couple hours with baby. A huge part of me being allowed back into the OR, is you as the patient, advocating for your desires to have your birth photographer present.

What do you photograph during a vaginal delivery?

I photograph all the big and little details of the whole birth story. I will interview you ahead of time to find out your comfort level as far as what you specifically want. And ultimately, you as the mom get to choose what I use for my business and the web. So even if you want the detailed birth shots, and you prefer those to stay close to your heart, that's ok. I value you as a person and a mama. I have ways of photographing discreetly where most moms feels comfortable with those images being shared. And if you are comfortable with all the raw details of birth being shared, that's great too. I love to show people how empowering and beautiful birth can be!

For birth photos, I do not do any posing, minus maybe a few family ones at the end. Everything else is in the raw, as it happens, full documentary style. You will receive all my edited digital images for your gallery to download. If you desire an album or additional keepsake, those may be purchased separately.
